Hello my name is Teresa…
I am a London & Kent based professional Civil Celebrant trained by The International College of Professional Celebrants. I create and perform beautifully bespoke weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, adoption ceremonies and funerals.
I live in South East London with my wonderful partner; we have a gorgeous Cavapoo in our lives who we adore. Over the years I have travelled extensively, lived in different countries working in hospitality and the corporate world. I have a general love of outdoor activities and love the coast. We have a property in Herne Bay, Kent, where we enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am also an airbnb superhost when we open our doors up for others to experience our slice of sea view heaven.
I am happy to travel wherever the need arises. With all my experience over the years I love organising wonderful and memorable ceremonies. My personal life experience and loss has also prepared me well to provide a caring and supportive pair of hands when helping families organising a funeral. So if you are planning any life celebration or want to celebrate a life well lived, give me a call, I’d love to have a chat.
Weddings
Your Day Your Way!
The two of you at a special place with your friends and family, saying words you really mean to each other. Celebrating everything that brought you to this moment and all that you are looking forward to.
Weddings should be all about what makes you both truly happy. Whether you’re after something small and intimate, or big and banging I will work with you to create a fantastic ceremony to fully reflect your love journey and future dreams. Music, readings, a wide range of rituals including hand fasting and tying the knot, personal stories and beautiful personal promises can all be included. It is not just about celebrating a moment in time, but a life that will be lived together. If this sounds like it could be the perfect day for you I would love to talk to you!
My price includes unlimited contact with me, and a rehearsal to ensure a smooth and carefree ceremony. Choosing the right celebrant is extremely important, if after our initial meeting (which is no obligation and completely free of charge) we both feel we are a good fit then comes the extremely exciting part. We can get planning!!
Renewal of Vows
A renewal of vows ceremony gives you the opportunity to say “I do” all over again! It could be to mark a significant milestone anniversary or you may have been through a difficult time in your lives and want to mark the beginning of a brand new chapter.
Sometimes couples did not get to chance to have the wedding they always wanted and want a ‘second chance’ or you may have simply LOVED your wedding day so much you just want to relive it all again! No matter the reason, no one has to have just one wedding. It is also a great excuse to have a wonderful party too! The ceremony is very similar to a wedding, but the vows exchanged and sentiments and rituals shared can be more meaningful, deepened by years of shared experience.
As with a wedding ceremony the content I create would be completely tailor made and perfect, just for you!
Naming Ceremonies
A wonderful celebration of a beautiful union, announcing to the world you are officially naming and welcoming your child into your family!
Your ceremony will be totally unique, we can tell your child’s story and their special role in your family and share your hopes and dreams and promises for your child. You may also choose to include the significance of their name and why you chose it. We can incorporate promises from guide parents and family members, having readings, poems and music all adds personal meaning. Certificates can also be signed to create a memento of the ceremony. There is a range of lovely fun rituals we can incorporate such as sand pouring to signify the blending of family.
Whatever you choose, I can craft a ceremony that is personal and bursting with meaning and symbolic moments that everyone will always remember.
Adoption ceremonies
An adoption ceremony is a joyous celebration to welcome a child or children to your family and it is a wonderful opportunity for your family to acknowledge the precious gift of love and union.
A ceremony to share what this child brings to your family life, a chance for new memories to be made together. As with a naming ceremony we can incorporate a wide range of music, readings, hopes, wishes and promises from parents and guide parents. Family members can also be included with symbolic rituals like a sand ceremony, where particles are poured and blended together symbolising a bond as a family that is impossible to separate.
Certificates can be signed or even stamped with colourful fingerprints to create a memento of the ceremony.
Funerals
“Celebrating a life is as important as living one”
A funeral should be as unique as the person it commemorates and be a respectful celebration of their life. It would be my honour to help you at this very difficult time. I have been in your shoes will provide compassion, empathy, a listening ear and a caring pair of hands. I’ll meet with you to discuss details of your loved ones life lived and will create a beautifully bespoke service that is respectful, touching on a perfect balance of solemnity and humour if appropriate. We can incorporate wonderful personal touches, readings, poems, prayers, personal tributes and photos and music that will celebrate and truly honour their memory. Funerals play a huge role in the grieving process, losing a loved one is never easy. It’s a final tribute that will help support family and close friends, at a time of grief & loss. I will also liaise with your Funeral Director, and your crematorium or burial site, on your behalf to ensure the ceremony runs smoothly so you have one less thing to worry about.
What is a Civil Funeral?
A Civil funeral is a ceremony that is based upon the wishes, beliefs and values of your loved one, you and your family. It’s a unique and very personal celebration of life that allows family and friends to acknowledge the person that has passed. Paying tribute to a life lived. Often the ceremony takes place at a crematorium or a burial site but any other location can be chosen for example a chapel, outdoor place or a venue that has been meaningful to the person that has died.
Pet Funerals
“Pets leave paw prints on our hearts”
Losing a pet can be devastating as the love and bond you have shared is immeasurable. Pets provide true companionship, loyalty, comfort, adventure and so much more. Having a ceremony for your beloved pet is a chance to mourn your companion’s passing and it gives you the chance to say goodbye and to celebrate their life as were so unique and special to you.
You may choose to have your pet cremated or buried, there are pet crematoriums and cemeteries that offer space for pet funerals, but you can consider holding a farewell ceremony and their internment at home in your garden. We can talk about what your pet meant to you, share stories and memories, gather all their favourite toys, blankets and have those present as you say goodbye, you can have photo tributes and even watch videos of your pet. I will help you design a personalised ceremony to reflect all your wishes.
Whatever you choose to do, honouring your pet with a funeral ceremony is a wonderful and meaningful acknowledgement of your relationship and bond.
